Avast is among the most widely-available and powerful security suites available on the market, with a substantial user base and a broad selection of tools. Installation is smooth and straightforward and you’re not pressured into upgrading to the premium version (although the full scan can have a noticeable impact on system performance). The main interface is simple and clean look and features a central button to scan and icons that clearly represent the different parts of the suite. The Explore tab is a bit cluttered with features buried in it but this is due to a desire to have smaller options. Users who are visually impaired may find the grey-on white text difficult to read. This free suite is partially supported by ads and gives users the option of installing partners software.
